A+ Content modules ranked: which ones move the conversion needle.

We A/B tested all 17 Amazon A+ module types across 80 brands. Two of them out-perform the rest by 3-4x. They're not the ones you'd expect.

A+ Content modules ranked: which ones move the conversion needle.
FIG. 01 — Standard Amazon A+ Content module set across 80 brand pages.

Amazon's A+ Content editor offers 17 module types and almost no guidance on which ones convert. We worked with 80 mid-market brands over Q1 to A/B test every single module type against a control — same product, same copy, only the module varied. Six months and ~21M impressions later, the answers are clear.

And surprisingly, the two highest-converting modules are the two least-used ones. Most sellers reach for the "image + text" or "comparison chart" defaults. The winners are something else entirely.

Module types tested

Each brand ran one of the 17 modules against a baseline of "text-only" A+ Content for a fixed two-week window. We measured conversion lift, ASIN-level CTR, and detail-page glance time. Brands were stratified across price bands ($15–$150) and categories.

// SECTION 02

The two winners

1. Standard Image & Light Text Overlay (+34%)

Surprisingly underused. A single full-bleed lifestyle photo with one short headline overlaid. Conversion lift of +34% median. The simplicity — one image, one promise — out-performed every multi-element layout we tested.

2. Premium A+ Hero Banner (+28%)

Available only with Premium A+ enrollment, but worth it. Full-bleed banner at the top of A+ Content, sized at roughly 16:9. Top-decile ASINs use this almost universally; bottom-decile ASINs almost never do.

The third-place finisher — "Standard Four Image & Text Quadrant" — converted at +12%, less than half the lift of the winners. Everything below that ranked between +2% and +8%. The lesson: fewer, bigger modules out-perform many smaller ones.

What to ship first

If you ship one A+ Content module this week, ship the Standard Image & Light Text Overlay. If you can spring for Premium A+, the Hero Banner is your next addition. Skip the comparison charts and "image & text" quadrants until you've got the basics in place.

Most sellers fill all four A+ modules because Amazon shows four slots. The data says: better to ship two great modules than four mediocre ones.
